HB 492 amends the Code section relating to a writ of possession issued by a court order to recover possession of land or property. Applications to execute a writ of possession by a sheriff or marshal must be made within 30 days of issuance of the writ, unless the application is accompanied by an affidavit showing good cause for a delay. If the landlord fails to execute a writ of possession within 30 days from the issuance of any order granting the writ of possession, the landlord must reapply and pay additional filing fees for the writ.

This legislation would allow law enforcement to issue a citation to an owner of vehicle instead of the vehicle operater for violations involving tag decals, if the owner is present.

Senate Bill 29 revises the definition of "officer", as it relates to waiving sovereign immunity for local government entities, to expressly include sheriff, deputy sheriff, or other agent, servant, or employee of a sheriff's office, so that these individuals are protected from liability for official acts particularly in torts involving use of a covered motor vehicle in performance of his or her official duties.

This legislation grants civil immunity for individuals rescuing persons or animals that are in distress in a locked vehicle.  The individual must place a call to 9-1-1 and wait for emergency responders to arrive to be eligible for the civil immunity.
